We are a thriving club, chartered in 1943, proudly upholding the Soroptimist ideals of service to our community, high ethical standards in business and the professions, and passionate about advancing the cause of women throughout the world. Since April 4th 2005 we have held all our meetings at Stanley House, Audenshaw, Tameside. We still maintain our links with Ashton under Lyne being geographically very close to "our" town.
For a complete list of all our meetings please see our News page.
President for 2000/11 ( our 68th year ) is Linda l Fayers

In previous years we have had friendship links with Soroptimist groups in U.S.A.and Norway and now have a close link with our friends north of the border in Easter Ross, Scotland. We look forward to linking with more Clubs in the future and were delighted to receive New Year and Easter greetings from Chalon sur Saone in France.
Prospective members are always warmly welcomed at our meetings and membership of the SI Movement and Ashton under Lyne Club is by invitation only. For a flavour of what it means to be a Soroptimist do check out our "news" and "links" pages.

On 9 October 2005 the Club honoured Margaret Rogerson for her 50 years Service as a Soroptimist. President Linda welcomed the Civic Mayor of Tameside MBC, Councillor Jackie Lane and Regional President Pat Woodward to the Broadoak Hotel Ashton under Lyne. Club members joined with members of our Mother Club, Manchester and Sister clubs from within South Lancs. Region. Margaret received gifts, a letter from Buckingham Palace and a certificate signed by Federation President Janet Garnons-Williams to mark this very special event.

The Ashton club formed a bowling team some years ago to take part in the President's Rose Bowl Competition. This takes place annually to promote friendship between clubs in the South Lancashire Region. Ashton's name appears on the trophy several times including 2002.
